Resin-Based Protective Coating · Las Vegas, NV

The only protection product that adds material back to your paint system after correction. Not a ceramic. Not a film. A measurable film layer that takes the wear so your factory clear coat doesn't have to.

What It Is

A Coating That
Adds Back
What Was Removed.

Every paint correction removes material from your clear coat. It has to. That's how defects get eliminated. The result is cleaner, clearer paint. But with slightly less clear coat than you started with.

Most protection products are applied in extremely small volumes. Ceramics, sealants, waxes. The majority gets wiped off during leveling. What stays behind is a very thin layer that helps with appearance but offers minimal material protection.

Avant-Guard Formula 1051 is different. It's a self-leveling resin-based coating engineered to deposit a measurable film layer directly onto the paint surface. Approximately 8 to 13 microns thick. That layer doesn't just protect. It replaces material.

Avant-Guard Formula 1051 Part A + Part B · Resin Coating System

Self-Leveling Resin

The formula levels across the surface as it cures, producing a uniform film layer without visible edges, seams, or high spots.

Measurable Thickness

8 to 13 microns of deposited film. This is a number you can verify. Not a marketing claim. Paint thickness gauges confirm it's there.

Sacrificial Layer

The coating takes the wear instead of your factory clear. Fine scratches, UV degradation, environmental contamination. It happens in the resin layer. Not in your paint.

Correctable Over Time

When the coating shows wear, it can be machine-polished and refreshed. The factory clear coat remains untouched underneath throughout the vehicle's life.

Lab Certified

The Numbers
Behind the Product.

Independent laboratory testing. Real results. Here's exactly what Formula 1051 is certified to do — and what your warranty covers.

Independent laboratory certification — what the numbers actually mean

Hardness & Scratch Resistance

Pencil Hardness · ASTM D3363

Surface Hardness

Scale runs 6B (softest) to 9H (hardest). Most brands claim 9H but verify much lower in real-world testing. Formula 1051 scores a certified 4H — genuine protection against everyday abrasion and contact swirls.

4H
Strong

Pendulum Hardness · ASTM D4366

Film Rigidity

Measures how resistant the coating film is to deformation. 220 Persoz is well above the 150 benchmark for premium coatings — the surface resists denting or marring under pressure.

220
Strong

Taber Abrasion · ASTM D4060

Wear Resistance

A grinding wheel runs 1,000 cycles. Only 8.3mg of coating was lost — roughly the weight of a few grains of salt. The coating won't wear thin through repeated washing or everyday contact.

Flexibility & Adhesion

Impact Strength · ASTM D2794

Crack Resistance

A weighted drop tests when the coating cracks under impact. Over 140 kg-cm means it flexes with the panel instead of shattering — critical for vibrations and minor daily impacts.

Pull-Off Adhesion · ASTM D4521

Bond Strength to Paint

663 PSI of force required to pull the coating from the paint — stronger than most industrial coatings. Once applied, it's chemically bonded, not just sitting on the surface.

Hydrophobics & Gloss

Water Contact Angle · ASTM D7334

Beading Performance

Wax sits at 70–80°. Good ceramics hit 90°+. At 99°, water forms near-perfect spheres and rolls off carrying contaminants with it — the signature bead-and-sheet effect.

99°

Gloss Meter · 60° / 85°

Depth & Wet Look

99.8 / 99.1 is essentially a perfect mirror finish. The 85° reading captures that deep "wet look" — the paint appears to have a liquid depth under any light source.

Environmental Durability

QUV Resistance · ASTM D4587

UV / Sun Protection

2,000 hours of intense UV bombardment — equivalent to years of real-world sun exposure. 99% retention means virtually zero degradation. Critical for Las Vegas where paint surfaces can exceed 180°F in summer.

Xenon WOM · ASTM G155

Full Weather Resistance

Combines UV, heat, and moisture cycling over 2,000+ hours. 98% retention confirms the coating holds up against real combined weather conditions — not just controlled lab UV.

MEK Resistance · ASTM D4752

Chemical Resistance

MEK is a harsh industrial solvent — far stronger than anything on the road. 1,500+ rubs with no breakdown. Gas spills, brake fluid, harsh degreasers — not a concern.

Salt Fog · ASTM B117

Corrosion Resistance

1,000 hours in a saltwater fog chamber. Zero rust, zero blistering. The coating forms a complete seal against corrosion — great for coastal trips or exposure to road chemicals.

Water Immersion · ISO 2812-2

Water Penetration Resistance

Extended submersion test for blistering, softening, or delamination. Passed clean — the coating doesn't absorb moisture or allow water through to the paint underneath.

Operating Temperature Range

Stable from -40°F to 250°F. Engine bay heat, desert summers, freezing storage — the coating doesn't crack, peel, or soften anywhere across the full range.

What to Expect

Real Results.
Real Expectations.

Formula 1051 pairs seamlessly to the paint substrate and is nearly unnoticeable once cured. No edges. No cut lines. Just paint that looks better and stays protected longer.

You Can Expect
  • Increased depth and clarity in the finish
  • A more uniform, refined appearance
  • Results that last rather than fade quickly
  • Micro marring visually reduced or eliminated
  • ~80% reduction in abrasion vs. unprotected OEM clear coat
What It Won't Do
  • Larger defects can and will remain visible
  • Failed or compromised paint will not be restored
  • Not scratch-proof or rock chip-proof
  • Not self-healing
  • Not a restoration product for damaged paint
The Real Advantage

When damage does occur, it happens in the coating. Not your factory clear coat. Wear is correctable. Your original paint stays untouched for the life of the vehicle.

80%
Reduction in Abrasion vs. Unprotected Clear Coat
Long-Term

Low Maintenance.
Not Zero Care.

Once fully cured, Formula 1051 requires no scheduled maintenance, no toppers, and no reapplication cycles. That's a real differentiator compared to ceramic coatings. But it's not an invitation to neglect the car.

No Scheduled Maintenance

No annual reapplication. No booster products required. The coating works on its own.

Wear Is Normal and Expected

The coating absorbs daily wear instead of your clear coat. When correction is eventually needed, it addresses the coating. Not your factory paint.

!
Responsible Care Still Applies

Low maintenance is not the same as no maintenance. Regular washes and avoiding unnecessary abuse will extend the life of the coating significantly.

Honest Assessment

When Formula
1051 Is the
Wrong Call.

We won't install Formula 1051 on every vehicle that comes in. There are situations where it's not the right fit. We'll tell you that upfront rather than take the job and deliver a result that doesn't hold up.

Formula 1051 is not the right call when:

Paint is failing, peeling, or structurally compromised
The customer can't accommodate the cure time requirements
The goal is restoring heavily damaged paint rather than protecting corrected paint
Significant damage is being concealed rather than corrected
Installation Requirements

Why It's Shop
Only. Always.

Formula 1051 has specific installation requirements that can't be met in a driveway or a mobile setting. This isn't about convenience. It's about whether the product performs the way it's supposed to.

Temperature Controlled

Excessive heat reduces working time. Cold temperatures extend cure time. The shop environment is managed throughout the entire install.

Humidity Controlled

Humidity affects how the resin levels and cures. Outdoor or garage installs introduce too many variables to ensure consistent results.

Dust-Free Environment

Contamination during the cure window ruins the finish. Our three-bay shop keeps the install environment clean from decontamination through final cure.
